Pakistan’s education schemes work at every rung of the ladder, and they are run by different doors: BISP pays Benazir Taleemi Wazaif stipends to keep the children of its families in class from Class 1 to 12; the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) quietly selects the province’s brightest poor students for scholarships; the federal PM Laptop Scheme rewards university merit; and the new PM Youth Chromebook Scheme is putting 500,000 devices into the hands of Grade 9 toppers in government schools. Families routinely miss support by knocking on the wrong door, applying for a laptop scheme when their child is in the stipend age, or waiting for a scholarship that selects students itself. This page sorts the four by level and explains how each one actually finds its students.
The Schemes at a Glance
| Scheme | Level | What it gives | How students are found |
|---|---|---|---|
| Benazir Taleemi Wazaif | Class 1 to 12, children of BISP families | Quarterly stipends, higher for girls | Enrolment through BISP, 70% attendance rule |
| PEEF Scholarship | Matric to Master’s, Punjab | Monthly stipend, paid twice a year | PEEF selects from board results; special quota applies online |
| PM Laptop Scheme | University students, public institutions | A free laptop | Merit lists through universities; registration closed at present |
| PM Youth Chromebook Scheme | Grade 9 (and 10 in AJK, ICT, GB) toppers, government schools | A Chromebook device | Board merit lists; no application exists |
Benazir Taleemi Wazaif: Stipends That Follow Attendance
Taleemi Wazaif pays the children of active BISP Kafaalat beneficiaries from Class 1 to 12, per quarter, with girls paid more than boys at every level and a one-time Rs 3,000 bonus when a girl completes primary school. Current reported rates run from Rs 2,500 (primary, boy) to Rs 5,000 (higher secondary, girl) per quarter. The condition that decides everything is attendance: 70% from the second quarter onward. Our Taleemi Wazaif guide sets out the rates, the school-change rules and the honest note on which official table is current.
PEEF: The Scholarship That Finds You
The Punjab Educational Endowment Fund works backwards from other scholarships: for 80% of its awards (Outreach), there is no application at all. PEEF takes board result data, applies its tests (60% marks, parents’ income up to Rs 60,000 a month, Punjab domicile) and contacts selected students through their institutions. The remaining 20% (Special Quota, for orphans, minorities, children of martyrs and of junior government employees, and students with disabilities) plus Master’s scholarships do take online applications when advertised. Our PEEF guide gives the stipend table and the exact criteria.
PM Laptop Scheme: University Merit, Honestly Closed
The federal laptop scheme has distributed more than 500,000 laptops across its phases, and Phase-IV’s 100,000 laptops went to merit lists drawn by universities from registered students with strong CGPAs. Registration for that phase is closed and HEC has announced no new phase, a fact our PM Laptop guide states plainly because dozens of sites invent fresh deadlines for it every month. Punjab students should also read the separate provincial scheme on our youth schemes page.
PM Youth Chromebooks: For Grade 9 Toppers
Launched on 25 October 2026, the Chromebook scheme is a selection, not an application: 500,000 government-school students chosen from board merit lists, Grade 9 in the four provinces and Grades 9 and 10 in AJK, ICT and Gilgit-Baltistan, with Punjab’s share alone at 181,090 devices. There is no form, no fee and no national last date; the board list is the gate. Our Chromebook guide explains the document rules for selected students and the scams already circulating around it.
Start With Your Child’s Level
- School-age child in a BISP family: Taleemi Wazaif is your stipend; protect the 70% attendance.
- Brilliant board result in Punjab on a low income: check PEEF, and remember Outreach selects you; keep your institution’s office informed of your result.
- University student: laptop schemes are merit-list based; watch HEC and your university, not agents.
- Grade 9 topper in a government school: the Chromebook comes through your board and school; anyone selling a form is lying.
Education Schemes: FAQs
Benazir Taleemi Wazaif, for children of BISP Kafaalat families in Class 1 to 12, paid quarterly per child with a 70% attendance condition, and higher rates for girls.
For most awards you do not: PEEF’s Outreach category (80%) selects students itself from board results. Special Quota and Master’s categories accept online applications at peef.org.pk when advertised.
No. Phase-IV registration has closed, merit lists were issued through universities, and HEC has announced no new phase. Sites publishing fresh deadlines are not quoting HEC.
From board merit lists: Grade 9 toppers in government schools (Grades 9 and 10 in AJK, ICT and Gilgit-Baltistan). There is no application and no fee.
They serve different levels: Chromebooks go to school students selected by boards, laptops to university students by merit. Government laptop rules also bar anyone who already received a government device.
No. Every scheme on this page is free. Fees are charged only by fraudsters imitating them.
Start from the level, not the headline, and you will save yourself most of the confusion around these schemes. A school-age child in a BISP family needs attendance and enrolment, not a laptop form. A strong board result in Punjab needs a watchful eye on PEEF, not a paid agent. A university student needs a good CGPA and a place on a merit list, not a fresh deadline invented online. A Grade 9 topper needs a school and a board that have the right result on file, not a form bought from a stranger. Check the official guide for your scheme, keep your documents ready, and ignore anyone who asks for a fee, a password, or a payment to unlock support that the government already provides free. When in doubt, ask your school, your institution, or the official helpline first, and treat every shortcut with suspicion.
