The Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) is Punjab’s largest scholarship programme, paying monthly stipends to talented students whose families cannot afford their education, from Intermediate up to Master’s level. PEEF works differently from most scholarships: for 80% of its awards, called Outreach scholarships, you do not apply at all, because PEEF collects toppers’ data from the boards itself and contacts the students. The remaining 20% are Special Quota scholarships, which you do apply for online. This page explains both routes, the stipend table, and the eligibility rules. School-level stipends for BISP families are covered in our Benazir Taleemi Wazaif guide, and university devices in the PM Laptop Scheme guide.

What Is the PEEF Scholarship?
PEEF was created by the Government of Punjab to stop one specific waste: students who top their boards but drop out because the family cannot pay fees, books and hostel costs. The fund pays a monthly stipend for living and study expenses, released in two instalments a year, and it has awarded hundreds of thousands of scholarships since it began. Its defining feature is the proactive model: instead of waiting for applications from students who may never hear of it, PEEF obtains the data of meritorious students from the Punjab boards (BISEs) and the Federal Board, identifies those who also meet the income test, and reaches out to them through their institutions.
Outreach Scholarships: The 80% You Do Not Apply For
Four out of five PEEF scholarships are Outreach awards for the Intermediate and Graduation levels. PEEF takes the results data from the boards, picks out students who scored at least 60% in the annual examination and whose family income fits the limit, and contacts the eligible students directly. If you have just passed Matric or Intermediate in Punjab with strong marks from a low-income family, the practical steps are: keep your result card and your father’s income details ready, stay reachable through your school or college, and respond quickly if PEEF or your institution contacts you. There is no form to chase and no fee to pay.
Special Quota Scholarships: The 20% You Apply For
The remaining quota is reserved for defined categories of deserving students, such as orphans, children of martyrs and of low-grade government employees, students with disabilities, and minorities, along with Master’s level scholarships. For these, PEEF releases a newspaper advertisement and invites online applications through its official website, peef.org.pk. If you fall in a special category, watch for the advertisement after board results and apply within the announced window; late applications are not entertained.
PEEF Stipend Rates per Month
The stipend depends on your level and on whether you study from home (day scholar) or live in a hostel (boarder):
| Level of study | Day scholar | Boarder |
|---|---|---|
| Intermediate | Rs 1,500 | Rs 3,000 |
| Graduation (ADP) | Rs 2,500 | Rs 4,000 |
| Professional degrees (BS, MBBS, Engineering, B.Com, IT and similar) | Rs 3,000 | Rs 4,500 |
| Master’s level | Rs 7,500 | Rs 9,000 |
Rates are the fund’s published schedule; PEEF can revise them between cycles, so treat the figure in your own award letter as final.
