Green Tractor Scheme: Subsidy up to Rs 10 Lakh on New Tractors

The Chief Minister’s Punjab Green Tractor Scheme helps farmers buy a new, locally made tractor with a large government subsidy: Rs 750,000 on tractors of 50 to 65 horsepower in Phase IV, and Rs 1,000,000 on tractors of 75 to 125 horsepower in Phase V, the current 2026-27 programme of the Agriculture Department. Selection is by transparent digital balloting, not by influence. This page separates the two live phases, their land requirements, and how applications and balloting work. Farmers usually meet this scheme through the Punjab Kissan Card, which handles their seasonal input loans.

What Is the Green Tractor Scheme?

A new tractor costs more than most small farmers can ever save, so they rent machinery at peak season prices or work land by hand. The Green Tractor Scheme closes that gap with a flat cash subsidy paid toward a new tractor from approved local manufacturers, which have included Millat (Massey Ferguson) and Al-Ghazi (New Holland) among others. The farmer pays the remaining price, and the tractor is his own. Because applications always exceed the tractors available (Phase IV drew 213,637 applications for 10,000 tractors), winners are chosen by computerised balloting run after verification, and the full process is documented publicly.

Phase IV and Phase V: The Current Position

Phase IV, the low-power phase for 2026-27, offered 10,000 tractors of 50 to 65 HP with a subsidy of Rs 750,000 for farmers holding at least 5 acres. After verification through the Punjab Land Records Authority and NADRA, 128,757 applicants were found eligible, and the digital balloting was held on 23 September 2026. That phase is closed to new applications. Phase V, the hi-power phase, covers 9,500 tractors of 75 to 125 HP with a subsidy of Rs 1,000,000 and a minimum landholding of 7 acres, and the Agriculture Department is taking applications for it through its official channels. If you missed Phase IV, Phase V or a future phase is your route, provided your landholding matches the category.

Green Tractor Scheme Eligibility

  • You are a farmer resident in Punjab with a valid CNIC.
  • Your agricultural land meets the phase minimum: 5 acres or more for low-power tractors, 7 acres or more for hi-power tractors, verified through PLRA records.
  • One tractor per family. A household that already received a subsidised tractor under an earlier phase, or under the wheat support programme, is not eligible again.
  • Only approved, locally manufactured tractor models in the phase’s horsepower range qualify.
  • You must not be a bank loan defaulter.

Land verification is digital, so your record must be correct in the PLRA system before you apply; a disputed or unrecorded holding will fail verification no matter how genuine the farm is.

How to Apply for the Green Tractor Scheme

  1. Watch for the open window of the phase you qualify for, announced by the Agriculture Department.
  2. Apply on the official portal, gts.punjab.gov.pk, with your CNIC and land details. The application is free.
  3. Your land and identity are verified through PLRA and NADRA records.
  4. Eligible applicants enter the digital balloting for that phase.
  5. If your name is drawn, you receive instructions to complete your share of the price and take delivery of the tractor from the approved dealer.

Nobody can sell you a place in the balloting or guarantee a draw. Pay no one, and use only the official portal and the Agriculture Department helpline, 0800-17000.

Green Tractor Scheme: FAQs

How much subsidy does the Green Tractor Scheme give?

Rs 750,000 per tractor in Phase IV (50 to 65 HP) and Rs 1,000,000 per tractor in Phase V (75 to 125 HP), under the Agriculture Department’s 2026-27 programme.

How much land do I need for the Green Tractor Scheme?

At least 5 acres for the low-power phase and at least 7 acres for the hi-power phase, verified through Punjab Land Records Authority records.

Is the Green Tractor Scheme open for applications now?

Phase IV balloting was completed on 23 September 2026, so it is closed. Phase V (75 to 125 HP) applications are being taken through the Agriculture Department’s official portal, gts.punjab.gov.pk.

How are Green Tractor winners selected?

By digital e-balloting among verified eligible applicants. Phase IV had 213,637 applications and 128,757 eligible farmers for 10,000 tractors.

Can I get a second tractor in a later phase?

No. The scheme allows one tractor per family, and farmers who already benefited under an earlier phase or the wheat support programme are excluded.

Does applying for the Green Tractor Scheme cost anything?

No. Applications are free through the official portal. Anyone charging a fee or promising a guaranteed draw is running a scam.

Before you apply, check that your CNIC details match your land record and confirm the acreage shown for your holding. Keep a copy of any receipt or reference number from your application. If your land record needs correction, resolve it through the proper land record channel before the window closes, because verification uses the record on file. When results are announced, confirm your status only through the official portal and the Agriculture Department helpline, and pay no one who claims to secure a tractor or speed up delivery. Plan for fuel, servicing, and safe storage, and compare approved models in your horsepower range before delivery. With those checks done, the scheme can cut hiring costs, improve timeliness at sowing and harvest, and give your farm a reliable machine for seasons to come. Keep the tractor’s documents and service record together, so any future claim, warranty check, or resale is straightforward and well supported.
