Apni Chhat Apna Ghar: Affordable Housing for All

The Apni Chhat… Apna Ghar project is an important endeavor of the Punjab government to provide inexpensive housing to the public. This plan allows consumers to obtain housing loans based on plot ownership and a copy of their CNIC. The loan amount is Rs 1.5 million, with a monthly repayment of Rs 14,000 for nine years. The government has simplified the lending process and established a revolving fund, ensuring that there are no additional expenses for borrowers.

Green Tractor Scheme for Farmers

The Punjab cabinet has authorized another big project: the Green Tractor Scheme. Under this initiative, 9,500 tractors will be supplied to farmers, with a subsidy of Rs 1 million per tractor for those with up to 50 acres of land. The plan will officially commence on Friday, with tractors allocated through a balloting process on October 20. The government intends to supply farmers with a total of 30,000 tractors in future phases to promote agricultural growth. The first phase of the scheme provides 9,500 tractors. Farmers might get Rs 1 million in subsidies. Landowners with up to 50 acres are eligible. Balloting for tractors scheduled on October 20.

The Punjab Cabinet also authorized the Children’s Heart Surgery Program. This project aims to alleviate the backlog of 12,000 pending cardiac operations for children. To provide quality care, the government intends to invite international surgeons to perform the surgery in Pakistan. The program strives to give much-needed medical support to children with cardiac issues, ensuring that they receive timely and appropriate treatment.

Increased Penalties for Illegal Weapons and Kite Flying

The government has enacted tighter restrictions governing the possession of illegal weapons and kite flying. The Punjab Arms Ordinance 1965 was amended to make these offences non-bailable, with punishments ranging from three to five years in prison and fines ranging from Rs 500,000 to Rs 700,000 for illicit arms manufacturing. Kite flying has also been penalized, with prison sentences of two to five years and fines of up to Rs 5 million, demonstrating the government’s dedication to public safety.

Recruitment and Educational Initiatives

In addition to social projects, the Punjab cabinet has approved a number of recruitment and education initiatives. This involves appointing an assistant comptroller for the Chief Minister’s Office and establishing contract staff in the public health engineering department. The formation of a search committee to appoint the vice chancellor of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, as well as other educational positions, was approved. These measures are intended to improve administrative efficiency and encourage the development of educational institutions.
